Hey, Y'all.

I'm back again (actually, I never left, but it's just been forever since I did a journal entry).  After spending last year helping my friends run Con tables, I took the next logical step, and decided to start tabling my self this year.  I've already gotten one under my belt (the inaugural AWESOME CON DC, which was held right here in my stomping ground, the Nation's Capitol, and lived up to its namesake to boot!)

Next up is HEROES CON, down in Charlotte, NC.  I hope to have a few more prints to sell, and do some onsite doodlin' as well.  I'll let you guys know as we get closer in.

  Back at it again, after a crazy couple of months in terms of everything BUT art.  Just got back a few days ago from the New York Comic-Con, where I was helping my hoodlum sidekick move irresistable Kitties, and awesome-ass Deadpool and Aquaman Prints (and sit next to the overly-enthusiastic Brett Weldele to boot!).  Along the way, I got to see/talk to/hang out with/heckle some of my all-time favorite funny-book folks, including Billy Tucci, Mike Norton, Bryan "Kaiser"Tillman, Jason Axtell, and Daniel Miller, to name a few.

  Again, though, a special shout-out to my man Tom, for giving me a go-to guide on how to run a kick-ass Artist Alley table.  He hustled his ass off for four days, (I swear he didn't eat anything but three grapes and a saltine cracker with some earwax on it!!) and all the while gave me TONS of helpful info.  Thanks again, bro.

Hey, Fellow Deviants!!!

Ten days ago, we lost a family member. Our akita Nomo (who I always thought of as "My Little Brother") came to us as a pup 11 years ago, and grew into a brawling 150-lb. ball of Man's Best Friend.

The great comedian George Carlin once said that because you know you're going to outlive your pet, buying a dog was like "purchasing a small tragedy."  After a week's reflection, I prefer to think of it differently.  Buying a dog is like purchasing a brief pocket of unconditional love and loyalty.  That was Nomo. We adults spoiled him like he was one of our children, and in return he protected the children in our family as if they were his own cubs.  (Woe to the person who knocked on the front door when any of my nieces or nephews were playing in the house; Nomo's roar-like warning bark could be heard from outside.  But if you were a friend or family member, he'd be happily waiting to knock you off of your feet as soon as you opened the door!)

  They say that our pets don't have souls, and thus don't go to heaven.  I can't and won't believe that. If there's indeed a paradise waiting for the good and just when we leave this existence, then Nomo is there waiting for me, the newest addition to the honored pack that has served as the beloved protectors of the Howard Family.

First things first.

I'm not apologizing for the fact that I haven't logged an entry into this journal in like TWO YEARS(!!)  I already did that on my Blog, and plus I've been regualrly active here on DA, just not in this Journal.

As I write this, Nickelodeon Studios is announcing its semi-finalists for the 2012 Creative Artist Fellowship; having not received a call, text, or email, I shall now safely (or unsafely) assume that I'm not one of the fortunate few.

Good.  It's Spring.  That means GO TIME.

A hush-hush character design project.  Heroes Con.  SDCC.  Me, two Mac-Minis, an iPad, booze, cigars, caffeine, and a running clock.

The quest for the Tower begins again.  HILE, GUNSLINGERS...!!!!
